Dr Barry ChattertonDr Barry Chatterton
BSc MB BS FRCR FRANZCR

Barry graduated from the University of London (St Thomas's) in 1979 having also collected a B.Sc. in Biochemistry on the way. He worked for two years in General Medicine before training in Radiology in Leeds. He worked for a year in Wellington (1987) and emigrated to New Zealand permanently in 1989, coming to Waikato Hospital as Consultant Radiologist in 1989. He joined Hamilton Radiology part-time in 1997 and full time in 2006 and has been a partner in Midland MRI since 1997. His main professional interests are Cardiac MRI, Ultrasound (General, Musculo-skeletal, Interventional (Biopsy and Joint Injections), Obstetrics & Gynaecological and Vascular), CT including interventional CT (Biopsy and Joint Injections), Chest, Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

 


Dr Glen ColtmanDr Glenn Coltman
MB ChB, Dip Obst, FRANZCR

Glenn graduated from the University of Otago. He initially trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology for two years, then trained in Radiology in Hamilton and subsequently Sydney, completing his training in 1999. He spent two years in Australia including a one year Fellowship in MRI in Melbourne. He is the Midland MRI chairman, works at Hamilton Radiology and  is currently employed as a consultant Radiologist at Waikato Hospital.  He is an examiner for the Royal Australia New Zealand College of Radiologists and is also involved in the National Breast Cancer Screening Programme as a screening Radiologist. His fields of interest include MRI,Head and Neck imaging, Neuroradiology, Musculo-skeletal imaging, PET-CT, Mammography and O & G imaging.


Dr Gavin DavisDr Gavin Davis
MB ChB, FRANZCR

Originally from the Midland region, Gavin studied Medicine at Otago Medical School and completed his Diagnostic Radiology training in Wellington and at Waikato Hospital. He has been involved in Midland MRI since 1997 and also works at Hamilton Radiology. He is a credentialed radiologist for National Breast Cancer Screening Programme and has worked at the Waikato Hospital Breast Care Centre since it was established in 1992. He also subspecialises in abdominal imaging, CT and ultrasound and performs breast MRI as well as general neurology, spinal and abdominal MRI.


Dr Diane Sommerville Dr Diane Sommerville
MB ChB, FRANZCR

Diane trained in medicine at Otago University and completed her Diagnostic radiology training at Waikato Hospital. She then spent a year gaining her Fellowship in Paediatric Radiology at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. In addition to working at Midland MRI she also works at Hamilton Radiology. As well as MRI and Paediatric Radiology her interests include PET-CT and Ultrasound, particularly Obstetric, Gynaecology and Foetal imaging.

 


Michael SwarbrickDr Michael Swarbrick
BA BM BCh MA FRCS FRCR

Michael graduated in medicine from the University of Oxford in 1986. He gained post graduate qualifications in both surgery and radiology in the UK, the former through the Leicester training scheme, and the later through the Sheffield training scheme. Having completed his training he moved to Hamilton in 1996. In addition to working at Midland MRI he is currently employed as a Consultant Radiologist at Waikato Hospital, where he is the Clinical Director of Ultrasound, and also works at Hamilton Radiology. His professional interests include interventional radiology, both vascular and non-vascular, MRI, CT and ultrasound.


Dr Damon BlairDr Damon Blair
MB ChB FRANZCR

Originally from the Waikato, Damon graduated in medicine from the University of Otago in 1992. Before commencing post-graduate training, he spent four years doing rotations in Christchurch, Melbourne and Hamilton. His initial training in Diagnostic Radiology at Waikato Hospital was followed by a year at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he did an MRI Fellowship. He then returned to Hamilton as a Consultant Radiologist at Waikato Hospital in 2002. His professional interests include MRI (particularly Neuro), CT and ongoing medical education within the radiology department. He also works at Hamilton Radiology.


Dr Leigh HarveyDr Leigh Harvey
BSc, MBBS, FRANZCR

Leigh graduated from University College London in 1998. She worked for two years in general surgery and two years in accident and emergency medicine before training in radiology at Waikato Hospital. She has spent two years working in a large private practice in Perth, Australia, during which she completed a Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship. In addition to working at Midland MRI she is also employed at Hamilton Radiology and Waikato Hospital. Her main interests are in musculoskeletal imaging with MRI and ultrasound.  She provides a full range of musculoskeletal soft tissue and joint injections and CT guided spinal injections (facet joint, nerve root sleeve and epidural injections).


Dr Laxmi Narayana LankaDr Laxmi Narayana Lanka
MBBS FRCR

Laxmi graduated in medicine in India in 1992 and gained post graduate qualifications in both surgery and radiology in the UK. He completed a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada and moved to Hamilton in 2007. He is a radiologist at both Waikato Hospital and Midland MRI. His professional interests include Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary imaging.


Dr Bina LankaDr Bina Lanka
MBBS FRCR

Bina graduated in medicine in India in 1992 and gained post graduate qualifications in both surgery and radiology in the UK. She completed a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at University Health Network, Toronto, Canada and moved to Hamilton in 2007. She is a radiologist at both Waikato Hospital and Midland MRI and her professional interests include CT, MRI and US imaging of the abdomen and pelvis with a special interest in Oncology and Gynecological Imaging.


Dr Sabaratnum Muthukumaraswamy
MBBS FRANZCR

Muthu graduated in medicine in 1970 and has been a consultant radiologist since 1979. He is the Clinical Director of Radiology at Waikato Hospital and has been actively involved in Midland MRI since its inception in 1997. His professional interests include vascular and interventional radiology.


Dr Hament PandyaDr Hament Pandya
MB ChB MRCS FRCR

Dr Pandya graduated from the University of Sheffield, UK in 1996.

Following graduation, he underwent a three year period of training in Surgery and obtained a surgical postgraduate qualification (London 1999). He subsequently entered a 5 year training programme in Radiology (Sheffield, UK) and qualified in 2005. After qualification in radiology, he worked as a consultant radiologist in one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK (Birmingham). He moved to Hamilton in 2008 and also works as a Consultant Radiologist at Waikato Hospital and Hamilton Radiology.

 

Dr Pandya is also currently one of the head and neck radiology sub-speciality reviewers for the British Journal of Radiology.

His professional interests include Head and Neck imaging (MRI, CT and Ultrasound), PETCT / Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Imaging.
